Melissa Sorenson joined PBSA in 2013 as the association’s first dedicated Executive Director. Prior to joining PBSA, Melissa volunteered with PBSA in committees,and on the Board while working at Verifications, Inc. in a compliance and legal role.

As Executive Director, Sorenson responds to media inquiries, oversees the association’s finances, content creation, 5 global conferences annually, and ensures all staff and volunteer services align with PBSA's strategic plan and mission.

Melissa holds a law degree from William Mitchell, received her bachelor’s degree, Summa Cum Laude, from Minnesota State University, Mankato and is admitted to the Minnesota bar.

Faye Caldwell is the managing partner of Caldwell Everson PLLC. Faye provides specialized legal representation and advice in all areas of drug testing. Faye is a former Board member of the Substance Abuse Program Administrator’s Association, a former member of the federal Drug Testing Advisory Board, and is a frequent speaker on drug testing topics. Faye works closely with toxicology and other industry experts involved in drug testing and has the breadth of scientific and legal knowledge that is necessary for a comprehensive understanding of the complicated intricacies and issues that may arise.

As NDASA's executive director, Jo is responsible for the day-to-day management of the association and for implementing its strategic vision under guidance of the Board of Directors and committees. She is a nationally-respected advocate for safe and drug free workplaces, families and communities with more than 10 years of experience in the drug and alcohol testing industry. Jo was appointed to serve on the Taxation, Banking & Civil Law work-group for the Governor’s Task Force to regulate Amendment 64 in Colorado due to her expertise in the field of workplace drug and alcohol testing and represented the industry during the United Nations General Assembly on World Drug Agreements. As a recognized subject matter expert, Jo is a highly-requested national conference speaker, writer and public policy advisor.

Pamela Devata is a Labor and Employment Partner at Seyfarth Shaw LLP in Chicago, IL. Pam leads Seyfarth’s nationwide Background Screening, Litigation, and Compliance Team. She’s a national authority and firm go-to for all issues related to the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), background screening compliance, use of criminal and credit history, and Electronic Signature issues, as well as online and manual employment applications. A nationally recognized employment counselor, Pam has participated in numerous interviews, speeches, webinars, and training for employers on the subject of criminal history and credit checks. She has leveraged her niche area of expertise into a thriving class action practice.

She counsels both employers, resellers, and consumer reporting agencies on background information on compliance requirements under FCRA and related state laws, develops procedures for appropriately handling high-volume national hiring needs, and regularly litigates these issues on a single-plaintiff and class-wide basis, as in EEOC v. Kaplan Higher Education Corp., throughout the country.

Pam also testified before the EEOC at a Public Meeting regarding the use of credit checks in employment in Washington, D.C. Pam is also a certified Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt and was formerly an adjunct professor of Legal Writing at Chicago-Kent College of Law.

Ciera Parks is an Human Resources Executive with 15 years of experience having worked in higher education, manufacturing, nonprofit, cannabis, e-commerce and technology. Ciera advises and partners with businesses on their HR needs to develop strategies that improve workplace culture through customized alignment and training. Some of her clients include Microsoft, The Carter Center, Maryland Public Television and the US Pentagon. She has a proven track record of success in developing people strategies that drive performance, improve efficiency, and increase profitability. Additionally, Ciera is well-versed in building effective organizational structures and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. Ciera was also elected as The Community Involvement Director and Professional Development Chair for two of Amazon's employee resource groups (ERGs) and has been elected as the Director for Diversity & Inclusion by CHRA and FCSHRM. Nick is the Co-founder and Managing Partner of the Drug Screening Compliance Institute (DSCI). He is an Accredited Drug Screening Industry Consultant through the National Drug & Alcohol Screening Association (NDASA), an industry advisor, subject matter expert, professional researcher, trainer, and speaker who has built, implemented, and managed drug-free workplace programs for thousands of employers across the U.S. and abroad for 20 years.

Nick serves on the NDASA Board of Directors. He is an active member of the Employer Rights Committee, the Government Affairs Committee, and a State Affiliates Ambassador for the state of Washington. Nick has extensive experience in employment drug screening compliance, industry best practices, vendor ecosystem, process management, and legal research. He has written and edited numerous articles and publications and regularly shares his industry expertise and thought leadership at virtual, local, regional, and national speaking and training events.

Nick resides in Longbranch, outside of Seattle.

Chad Ascar is DISA's Director of Compliance Integration reporting to our Chief Operating Officer with dotted line responsibility to the head of our Compliance/Legal Team. Chad's primary responsibility is to work with internal teams to get to one Compliance standard across our multiple platforms. He brings with him over a decade of experience in the background screening industry. He is well versed on the Fair Credit Reporting Act and analogous state/local laws. Chad is currently the Chair of the Board of Directors for our industry trade association the Professional Background Screening Association (PBSA). During Chad’s time associated with PBSA, he has been involved with the Government Relations Committee, Industry Practices Committee, and has been a Team Leader during Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill. He currently holds a FCRA Advanced Certificate offered through PBSA. Chad graduated with a Juris Doctorate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Dr. Kim Olszewski is an ANCC board certified adult nurse practitioner and is a Certified Occupational Health Nurse Specialist and Case Manager from the American Board of Occupational Health Nurses. In 2007, she received her Fellowship (FAAOHN) distinction from the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses (AAOHN), American Association of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP) in 2023, and in 2020 she received her Fellowship (FAAN) distinction from the American Academy of Nursing. Dr. Olszewski is the immediate past President for the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses, and is past President of the Northeast Association of Occupational Health Nurses and the Pennsylvania Association of Occupational Health Nurses. Most recently she received an invitation from the Department of Health and Human Services Secretary, Alex Azar, to serve on the Board of Scientific Counselors, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), for a term beginning January 1, 2021 and ending December 31, 2024.Dr. Olszewski has presented extensively at national and international conferences over the past 15 years on various topics, including DOT certification, Marketing OHNs, Fatigue Management, Healthy People 2020, Social Media Integration and Diagnostic Updates. Olszewski is Director of Client and Provider Services and Nurse Practitioner at DISA Global Solutions in Lewisburg, PA and is Sr. Associate Dean, School of Nursing at Commonwealth University in Pennsylvania.

Justin Copeland is the Vice President of Safety at United Road, where he has spent the past few years leading initiatives to enhance fleet safety, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver comprehensive training programs for drivers, staff, and technicians. With nearly 22 years of experience in the trucking industry, Justin began his career as a professional driver, spending his first nine years on the road. Over the years, he has held key roles in Operations, Recruiting, and Safety. Since discovering his passion for safety in 2011, he has progressed through leadership positions including Regional Safety Manager, Environmental Health & Safety Manager, Director of Safety, and Senior Director of Safety.

A strong advocate for fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement, Justin believes every team member plays a critical role in maintaining a safe working environment. He is an active member of the American Trucking Associations (ATA) Safety Management Council, where he serves as Chairman of the Awards & Recognition committee, and is a proud member of the 2025 LEAD ATA class. Bill is an award-winning attorney with almost 40 years of experience in the workplace drug and alcohol testing industry. He is the Co-founder and Senior Research Attorney of the Drug Screening Compliance Institute (DSCI), focusing on state, federal, and subject-specific compliance research, policy development and review, training, education, and litigation support. Bill is a past Co-Chairman of the Illinois State Chamber of Commerce Drug-Free Workplace Program, a 10-year member of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) MRO Faculty, a past advisor to the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) MRO Committee, A 5-year participant in the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) Regional Student Drug Testing Summits, and a participant in the 1988 White House Conference for a Drug-Free America.

Bill has been involved in many workplace drug testing-related court cases at all levels, including the 1989 United States Supreme Court ‘Skinner’ decision. Bill co-founded Info-Lab, Inc., and managed Workplace Health Co-Op, a substance abuse program administrator. During his tenure with Info-Lab, the group co-owned and operated Info-Meth, an HHS-certified laboratory in Peoria, IL. Bill is the 2022 recipient of the Certification Commission for Drug & Alcohol Program Professionals (CCDAPP) Sue Clark Award for Excellence and the 2024 inductee into the Drug Testing Industry Hall of Fame, as awarded by the National Drug & Alcohol Screening Association (NDASA). Bill has written and edited numerous articles and publications and regularly shares his industry expertise and thought leadership at several virtual, local, regional, and national speaking events. Bill resides outside Chicago.

Mr. Juan Moya currently serves as the president of International Transportation Consulting Services LLC, which provides safety and regulatory compliance transportation consulting services to motor carriers and passenger carriers inthe United States and Mexico. He is also part of the team at Current Consulting Group, where he focuses on drug and alcohol testing. Mr. Moya's federal career spans over 23 years. As the Deputy Drug and Alcohol Program Manager for the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), he conducted inspections and investigations of pipeline operators to ensure compliance and safety in critical areas, including transportation and drug- and alcohol-testing in the oil and gas industry. He also assisted in drafting regulatory guidance and interpretations and in presenting at industry conferences. Previously, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) for over 18 years. He served as the Drug and Alcohol Program Manager for the Office of Compliance in Washington, D.C., where he provided management oversight of the agency's drug and alcohol national program, which covered approximately 4 million commercial drivers. He led regulatory, policy, and program initiatives, including the establishment of the Commercial Driver Clearinghouse.

In FMCSA, Mr. Moya held several positions, starting as a Border Inspector, where he conducted over 4,000inspections, primarily on Mexican and U.S. trucks at the Port of Entry in Brownsville, Texas. He participated in many official meetings in Mexico and Canada to discuss international transportation regulatory issues. As a safety investigator in Ames, Iowa, he conducted investigations and compliance reviews in diverse motor and passenger carriers. In Washington, D.C., he served as a transportation specialist in the Enforcement and Compliance office, where he worked on various enforcement policies, including the imminent hazard and fit, willing, and able policies. In 2017, he served as acting division administrator in the Puerto Rico Division during Hurricane Maria. During his time in Puerto Rico, he oversaw the implementation of federal grants and conducted hazardous materials (HazMat) training for commercial drivers and employers. He assisted in obtaining emergency regulatory waivers and exemptions for the transportation of fuels and other hazardous substances. He also led the implementation of statutory changes to establish commercial driver's license standards in Puerto Rico.

Military
Mr. Moya retired from the U.S. Navy Reserve as a Logistics Specialist first class, where he served in several assignments, including deployments to Europe, Kuwait, and Afghanistan.

Mr. Moya holds an executive certificate of public policy from Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA, a master's degree in public management from the University of Maryland, College Park, MD, a master's degree in international policy and practice from George Washington University, Washington, DC, and a bachelor's degree in organizational management from Ashford University, Clinton, IA. He is currently working on a doctorate in Public Policy.

Joe proactively works with employers to solve (and more commonly avoid) employment law challenges. He is a nationally recognized management lawyer with more than 30 years of experience representing the business community in a wide variety of employment and labor matters in perhaps the most challenging state in the nation for employers – California. He is invited to speak at seminars around the country and has been an annual presenter at both the SHRM Annual Conference and the Employment Law and Compliance Conference for two decades.

Mr. Beachboard is frequently quoted in such leading publications as HR Magazine, National Law Journal, Los Angeles Times, NY Times, and HR Executive and Workforce, and has been published in dozens of legal and business journals. Throughout his career in Los Angeles, Mr. Beachboard has represented dozens of studios and entertainment properties.  He cites his most interesting project as working with the cast and crew of the television show The Office, from its pilot through the final season.

Brenna Lyles is the Senior Director of Safety Policy at the American Trucking Associations (ATA), the nation's largest trade association representing motor carriers and suppliers. In this role, she leads advocacy efforts to advance commercial motor vehicle (CMV) driver, industry, and highway safety, with a policy portfolio spanning employer drug testing, marijuana reform, CDL standards, and carrier registration processes.

She co-leads ATA's Law Enforcement Advisory Board (LEAB), which brings together current and former federal, state, and local law enforcement leaders to strengthen collaboration between the trucking industry and the law enforcement community. Brenna also oversees ATA's Safety Policy Committee and its Controlled Substances, Driver Health & Wellness Subcommittee, guiding policy development on critical safety and driver health issues. Before joining ATA, Brenna worked on state level transportation policy at the Texas Department of Transportation. A proud Texas Longhorn, Brenna earned her Master's in Public Affairs from the University of Texas at Austin.

Colin Woods is the Chief Strategy Officer at DISA Global Solutions, where his unique blend of operations management, strategic planning, and leadership skills has significantly contributed to the organization's growth and success. Chris has worked in trucking for almost 14 years and has served as the director of safety at M&W since 2020. In that time, M&W has won many fleet safety awards including the Tennessee Trucking Association Grand Champion as well as the American Trucking Associations President's Trophy. Chris is also a former TTA safety professional of the year and a Heavy Duty Trucking Magazine Fleet Innovator. He's outdoors when the weather is good, a musician in his studio when the weather is bad, but a safety professional always.

Mallory Herrin is an experienced human resources consultant and industry recognized thought leader, serving as HerrinHR’s CEO and Principal HR Consultant. Mallory guides the human resources function for clients across a variety of industries throughout the United States.
Mallory is a frequent speaker at conferences, the author of Intentional HR: A Revolution in Strategic Thinking, and her work has been recognized and awarded locally and nationally. Ronnie Holland serves as the Director of Safety at TCW and brings an impressive 46 years of experience in the transportation industry, including 30 years dedicated to safety and risk management, with the last 16 spent at TCW. Under his leadership, TCW has earned the prestigious A.T.A. President’s Trophy Award in 2010, 2016, and 2023. Ronnie was also recognized as the Tennessee Trucking Association Safety Professional of the Year in 2013 and received the A.T.A. National Safety Director Award in 2024. Outside of work, Ronnie enjoys exploring the outdoors and traveling with his wife of 44 years, chasing “brown signs” to visit National Parks, and spending quality time with their three sons and one granddaughter.

Morgan Reynolds is the Director of Backgrounds Compliance for DISA Global Solutions. He has more than a decade of experience overseeing the daily compliance and regulation functions related to pre-employment law. He interprets complex legislation, guidelines, and recommendations and presents them to DISA and their customers in an appropriate context for simple comprehension. He led DISA’s recent successful Professional Background Screener Association Accreditation application and oversaw the review of our program by the third-party auditor. When not working, Morgan enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, and traveling.

Priscilla has over 27 years’ experience in the transportation industry, specializing in driver recruiting, retention, marketing, advertising, communications, and training. She is currently the Chief Marketing Officer for Conversion Interactive Agency, the leading driver recruiting and retention agency in the trucking industry. She has experience working for both a large motor carrier handling their internal driver advertising and marketing, and also experience with the leading recruitment marketing partners in the transportation industry.

Priscilla speaks nationally for organizations on topics relating to driver recruiting and retention, and she brings insight and first-hand experience on how motor carriers should think differently when it comes to recruiting and retention. Priscilla was named a Top Woman to Watch in 2023 by Women in Trucking.

Dr. Kuntz has been with CRL since 2006 and is a Board Certified Toxicologist. He is a national expert in urine adulteration and drug detection in urine, oral fluid, hair, and sweat using GC/MS, GC/MS/MS and LC/MS/MS. He has worked in workplace drug testing for over twenty years. He has testified extensively for employment hearings, child endangerment proceedings, military court-martial courts, Federal merit system protection boards, the FAA, and Department of Energy regarding drug use, interpretation, and adulteration of urine samples.

In addition to workplace testing, Dr. Kuntz has been involved for many years in developing drugs of abuse testing panels for medical professionals. Dr. Kuntz is an inspector for the SAMHSA and CAP forensic drug testing programs. He currently serves on the editorial board for Clinical & Forensic Toxicology News and as a consultant to the MRO Examination Development Committee for the Medical Review Officer Certification Council (MROCC). Dr. Kuntz received his B.S. in Pharmacy from North Dakota State University and practiced five years as a retail and hospital pharmacist. He went on to receive his Masters of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Oklahoma and his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from North Dakota State University. He further completed a post-doctoral program in biochemical toxicology at Washington State University and the University of Utah.

Steven Spencer is an accomplished executive and visionary leader, currently serving as SVP of Corporate Strategy at DISA Global Solutions. With a wealth of experience in transportation and a strong background in sales, operations management, and business planning and development, Steven has played a pivotal role in driving growth throughout his career.

Prior to his current role at DISA, Steven held several key positions, showcasing his expertise and leadership abilities. As the Vice President of Transportation and Senior Director of Transportation Sales at HireRight, he successfully led cross-functional teams and implemented strategic initiatives that resulted in significant revenue growth and improved strategic direction. Ryan spent a decade litigating cases for the Department of Justice and U.S. Intelligence Community before joining Sixfifty, where he has happily traded arguing cases for collaborating on projects. Today, Ryan leads a robust and growing Legal Product team that offers a full suite of products that help businesses of all sizes navigate federal, state, and local employment laws. Ryan lives in Maryland with his wife, kids, and dog, and enjoys coaching youth soccer, camping in the Adirondacks, and hiking the Appalachian Trail.

Dr. Konakanchi is a seasoned physician with over 30 years of experience in healthcare. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and a certified Medical Review Officer. She leads a team of 10 MROs at University Services and serves as a commissioner for the Certification Commission for Drug & Alcohol Program Professionals (CCDAPP). Dr. Konakanchi is recognized nationally for her expertise in medical review and compliance.

Dr. Konakanchi lives in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, gardening, and serving as a volunteer physician on International Medical Missions trips with non-profit humanitarian organizations.
